Or if you have leftover turkey after Christmas dinner, this is the perfect way to use some of it up. Your dog will be happy that you did!

The best thing about making your own dog treats is that you know exactly what ingredients are in them so you can ensure that your dog is getting the best quality treats possible. Making your own dog treats isn’t hard to do and your dog will be a very willing taste tester!

These homemade dog treats are the perfect gift for the dog’s on your Christmas list. Bake them, let them cool and then put them in a holiday cookie tin or add them to a gift basket.

Cranberry Turkey Christmas Dog Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 cups of flour (I use whole wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup of cooked turkey, cut up in tiny pieces
  • 1 cup of cranberries
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Lightly grease baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, whisk flour and baking powder.
  • Stir in turkey and cranberries.
  • Add wet ingredients: egg, olive oil and chicken broth.
  • Knead dough for 2 minutes.
  • Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut with cookie cutter.
  • Bake approximately 25 minutes.
  • Turn off oven and leave in for 30 minutes.
  • Cool and store in the refrigerator.
  • Can be frozen.

Prep time: 15 – 20 minutes
